Mezzo-Soprano, Melissa Schiel has quickly established herself as a noteworthy
vocal artist in both the United States and Canada. Her oratorio experience has
enabled her to sing many of the legacy works of both Handel and Bach.
Additionally Ms. Schiel has performed as Alto soloist in Handel's Messiah,
Bach's Cantata 180, Bach's Christmas Oratorio and the 2004-05 Aspen Bach Festival.

Ms. Schiel has performed with the Aspen Music Festival, The Tanglewood Music
Festival and the Mountain View International Festival of Song. She has performed
a broad spectrum of concert and song repertoires, specializing in the Lieder of
Mahler and Brahms. Her warm, burnished sound was recently heard in the 2006
Brott Music Festival in Bruckner's Te Deum, and Beethoven's Ninth Symphony,
where her "dulcet sounds" were acclaimed.

A Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario native, Melissa Schiel is at home in a lavish spectrum
of roles on the stage. Particularly her role as Berta in Opera Ontario's production
of the Barber of Seville has distinguished herself as what the Buffalo News deems
a "... well-sung hoot from beginning to end ... while displaying her admirable skills
as a [stunning] vocalist."
